Download: Sweet Jane (live) - The Velvet Underground (mp3)

So how does one follow Barry Manilow? With The Velvet Underground of course, and a nice pic of the only famous Jane I could think of doesn't hurt either. I think this is my favourite version of "Sweet Jane", recorded the first time they ever played it live and very different from the eventual studio version. From the album "1969".

LL - if you are so inclined, try and have a listen to the Cowboy Junkie's version of this song. Not as epic, but an interesting interpretation. This song is truly amazing. Great you brought it back for another listen....

Ah DVD you read my mind.

The Cowboy Junkies' version of this is one of my all time favourite recordings by anybody. It is absolutely gorgeous. Maria McKee's old band Lone Justice used to do a great live version of it too.

the 1969 album is probably my favourite VU set, and this is one of the best tracks (along with Lisa Says and Rock & Roll) - magic!
