Gutted

Oh well.

It's some consolation that I think we were the better team (and I'm not looking at the game through Blue-coloured glasses) but to come so close and then have the trophy slip away - literally! — was more heartbreaking than if we'd been crap.

This wasn't the post I wanted to write today, but here's the record I was going to put with it anyway.

I can't believe that twat Ferguson is saying they deserved to win because of their "history" — what does that have to do with winning a football game? Bloody Manc bastards.

'Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want' might have been a better choice?

I have no idea what a Weedgie is supposed to be but I'm sure it's not very nice.

One good thing about living in the States is I don't get to hear all the tabloid stories of football player's off-field behaviour so far as I'm concerned Terry is just a great defender and, more importantly, CHELSEA CAPTAIN. So all the hatas can fuck right off.

I was there in Moscow 48 hours without sleep and when JT stood up and walked to the Utd end in the pouring rain to take that penalty both me and the other 20,000 or so Chelsea fans knew he would score and the trophy would be ours but alas John is only human and he missed and the most disappointing night of my football supporting life became a reality but JT is still the best in my eyes and it was still worth spending £900 to be there Come On You Blues.

He still sent Van Der Saar the wrong way. Even with the slip, he almost did score.

I can say I'm totally neutral about this, as I'm french, and I confirm : Chelsea definitely deserved to win.
They just played better most of the time.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

Restored my faith in footballing justice and also nearly nudged this part time atheist over to believing there was a god.

All I would say is that, for all the high drama of last Wednesday, such an important game should never be decided on penalties. 'Bring back the cup final replay' should be the slogan for 2009.

After last week's CL tragedy I took a couple of days off work, went fishing, did some gardening, and avoided the TV and the papers in an attempt to forget the whole thing. It sort of worked inasmuch as I can now discuss it without bursting into tears now.

A pattern seems to be emerging that the better team always loses the CL Final. And I've had a fair few neutrals agree Chelsea were better overall.

Fergie did come out with some crap, but I thought I detected that deep down he knew they were lucky.

Hey, maybe Jose will be back next week.

Chelsea had the second half but united should have been 3 up at half-time.
