Cheers for this. Growing up as a Stoke City fan in the 1970s, Banks was like a mythic figure. I never saw him play, (Peter Shilton was my era) but he cast a long shadow.
This reminds me of a funny story, if you don't mind indulging me....
The day before my family emigrated to Canada in 1979, Stoke got promoted to the First Division. That night, the entire family gathered for a send-off.
It was a pretty somber, low-key affair, with the exception of my normally stoic uncle, who got absolutely shitfaced and sang and danced the whole night.
It's an indelible memory and a testament to the power of fandom.
Ahh! Banksy !! Boyhood memories of time spent on the Victoria ground at Stoke ..... In fact I was talking to Banksy about 9 months ago at a Sportsmans Dinner. An absolute gent who now spends a lot of time raising cash for charity.

Nothing in particular. Had the photo, had the record and it saved me having to write anything.
The only 1972 thing he could be referring to England-wise was the European Championships but we didn't even qualify for that.
